FIT for ME is a bold new campaign that aims to inspire adults in Liverpool to start being more physically active. Research shows that 63% of adults in the city are currently inactive and we want to help change the belief that this is normal. So, the neighbourhood team for physical activity and sport will be working with The Brain Charity to offer free Walking and Boccia sessions this autumn. These are for everyone to join in no matter their age, ability or fitness level.
If you have been watching the Paralympics you might be familiar with Boccia. If not, Boccia is a sport similar to bowls. The aim of the game is to roll or throw leather balls towards a white ball called a jack. Participants remain seated throughout and are split into two teams of 2 or 3 people. The team that gets the most balls closest to the jack at the end are the winners. Boccia is a fun sport that people of all ages and abilities can enjoy!
Try Boccia yourself for free at The Brain Charity. Weekly sessions start on Friday 14th October at 11am-12pm.
If you’re not very active at the moment, walking could be another good way to start. Our walking group will meet on Wednesdays at 1pm at The Brain Charity to set off at 1.30pm.
