The Brain Changer Dance project for Children and young people
News

We are pleased to tell you that our Physiotherapy through Dance workshops have begun in Springwood Heath Primary School. These workshops will continue at Springwood Heath for 12 weeks until the end of April. We are currently in schools but plan to move to a community setting later this year.

These workshops mix the skills of a professional dancer and a physiotherapist to design and deliver dance routines to children that improve their motor control and balance. The moves are based on wide-ranging and high impact physiotherapy exercises. These free workshops aim to improve mobility in a safe and fun environment. This project has been generously funded by BBC Children in Need.

Harriet Yale is our Physiotherapist who is also a yoga and pilates teacher. Leila Silitto is the project’s Dance Instructor. She is the Director of her company called Travelled Companions: a theatre company for young audiences. Leila is also working on another Brain Charity dance project – this time for people with dementia.

Please get in touch to suggest someone who might benefit from taking part in either of these projects. Also, if you run an accessible community location please contact us as we would love to take our project out into the community very soon.
